Birthday Thank You cards

We celebrated my daughter's 8th birthday today with her little girl friends. We had a fun T-Party. I am cheesy, and made it a Lemon-aTe Party. I made some lemonade and other treats. It was a gluten free party for the most part because my daughter's little friend can't eat gluten. I made the most delicious cup cakes. I got the recipe from her mother. They were A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. My niece said they were the best cupcakes she has ever eaten, and she doesn't like cup cakes. Wow! So, I had my daughter write thank you cards because I wanted her to learn gratitude. She was very tired as these past two days have been full of lots of activity for her. She said, "I'm so tired. I kind of wish now that I didn't get so many presents." I think I failed in teaching her gratitude. I hope I luck out better next time.

Baby is Three

MK celebrated her 3rd birthday last week. It's going by too fast. I was talking about it, pretending to cry, and my oldest two said, "Why are you complaining about? It's silly." Her birthday: She is my shy one. We sang to her and I could tell she liked it and was embarrassed by it. When she got her present and opened it. She was happy with it even though she did not know what it was. She gave it to her dad to take out of the box and said, "It's my most favorite present!" I got her a toy microphone. She was using a stick last week and I couldn't have her using a stick. What is with kids and sticks?! All my children like to play with sticks. They make my husband nervous...to be honest, they make me nervous too.

Snow for Christmas

LC has been waiting for a Christmas Snow. She wants to build a snowman with her cousin. I told her it hasn't been cold enough for it. We have been having a heat wave. I'm not excited about it either. I want it to be cold too. She ran to her room. Then came back to say, "It is going to snow on VJ's birthday. I prayed and it's going to happen."

"Well," I said, "if it's not cold enough it will turn into rain." I wanted to prepare her for a 'no' reply to her prayer or maybe I am "ye of little faith"?

"I did not know that," she answers while running away again. My son follows her saying, "It has to be at least 20 degrees or lower." I heard her praying and VJ coaching her on what to say.

She came back to say, "It will snow. But why does it have to be lower and not higher than 20 degrees?"

The Countdown to Six

All month my son has been counting down. There are three things he is excited about. The first, a visit from his older cousin who use to live with us. Then he is excited about Christmas and Christmas Eve. He is going to be celebrating his sixth birthday on Christmas Eve. He wants me to bake a bear shaped cake and the flavor he is requesting is plum pudding. Yuk! I told him he would not like it. He reminded me he is a cake lover. I think for the sake of us who are not so wild about fruit-flavored cakes I will make a chocolate cake. Is there a recipe for plum pudding cake?

Birthday Countdown

VJ knows how to read a calendar now. He likes to see what day of the week it is and wants to be in charge of crossing the day off the list. One day he crossed off too many days. I was confused about what day it was until we finally caught up. He was just wanting to hurry it up for December to get here. He wants his birthday to come. He can't wait to be six year's old. I am letting him know how lucky/blessed he is to have his birthday on Christmas Eve. He is glad it is on that day. I'm hoping he doesn't change his mind.

Cake

During my niece's birthday party, things were going to slow for the little children who wanted cake. So, my daughter went up to my niece and asked her the following: "Jane*, are we going to put fire on the cake now?"
*not her real name, it's the name of one of her favorite authors.
