Remembering a Name

I telling a story to my children about a lady at church. I couldn't remember her name and thought it started with a certain letter. Sometimes if I say, "It was Sister [insert initial here]," I remember the name. Today it backfired on me and the result was two silly kids (my oldest two).

I said, "It was Sister P."

I am sure you can guess why they started to laugh hysterically. I don't know what I was thinking. Well, to be honest, I guess I wasn't thinking. I was just focusing on the story and her name. Then they went on to say..."Sister Pancakes, Sister Syrup, Sister Lips, Sister Ears, Sister Bug...." on and on went the silliness.

I eventually remembered her name only after I consulted our ward list. Next time I will do this first before I try the initial of the last name idea. I was way off on her name too. It did not start with P, but had a P in it. Oh, and in case you're wondering, yes, I eventually got the silliness to calm down on after much prodding. I just have to remember I can't get any slip-ups of words past these two.

  1. One day at a church activity one of my little girls said she was looking for Brother Stink. I was confused, but eventually figured out she was looking for Brother Pugh (pronounced Pew, which she clearly associated with smell). I was the one with the giggles that day.
