My husband and I were called to teach the Sunbeams (age 3 & 4) class in our ward. We had been encouraging the children to close their eyes when they prayed. We would ask one child to open the class by praying and another to close it in prayer. Before each prayer began we would remind all of the Sunbeams to please close their eyes when praying.
A sweet little red-headed girl was offering up the opening prayer. Here is what she said:
"Dear Heavenly Father, we thank thee for our teachers, please bless us to be reverent, please bless Earl (named changed to protect the innocent) to close his eyes, ummm.......bless our teachers, bless Earl to close his eyes....ummmm, help us learn, Earl is still not closing his eyes...."
My husband would open his eyes to see if she had her eyes opened, but every time he looked up her eyes were closed, but Earl's eyes were not.
